7 Basic Tips in Caring For Your Laptop

Like most people, you consider your laptop as a part of your life. As a student, it helped you fulfill your class requirements. As a working professional, you need it for doing researches and recording important data. On your free time, you use it to browse the Internet as you check for news, download some music or communicate with your family. In short, it is almost a part of everything you do. Because of that, a laptop has the tendency to get abused all the time, making them prone to failure and malfunctions in the long run.

As such, it is important for you and everyone else who owns a laptop to take care of their units the right way. What exactly do you to care for your laptops? Here are some tips, just to give you an idea.

1. Try to refrain from using your laptop on top of soft surfaces like pillows, blankets and beds.

Why? Because most of the laptops have their air vents - that keep the unit cool at the base. And if you block those vents with some cloth, you are increasing the likelihood of your unit to overheat. So to be safe, it is best to use your laptop on a solid surface like wood or glass.

2. Invest in LCD and keyboard protectors. These cheap accessories are great buys because the screen protector will keep your LCD screen free from scratches. If you are also particular with your privacy, you may want to get protectors that double as a privacy screen. On the other hand, keyboard protectors are handy in keeping your crumbs or drinks off of your keyboard. Sometimes they also help in preventing keyboard keys from making impressions/ marks on your screen.

3. Clean the outer part of your laptop with the use of a lint free cloth. These are your best options because they do not leave hairline scratches on your screen's surface.

4. If you want to clean your keyboard, refrain from using a vacuum cleaner because they may displace some internal parts of your laptop. Instead, you can use a soft static brush that is effective in picking up dust in between small creases.

5. When you plan on taking your unit with you, make sure that you secure it in a snug padded bag that prevents your laptop from moving a lot. This is important because too much movement may loosen some connections and in turn cause boot failure.

6. As much as possible, keep your laptop from getting dropped or bumped. Strong impacts can drastically damage your unit.

7. If for some reason, your laptop malfunctioned, never attempt to repair it yourself unless if you really are a computer technician. Opening the laptop yourself may void warranties that are still applicable or worse create more problems.

So there you have it! Those are some tips in caring for your laptop. If you are going to go through them again, you will notice that these are things that require minimum efforts on your end. As long as you apply them, you can be sure to keep your laptop in tiptop shape.
