Gavin and Stacey - Could it Turned into a Classic British Sitcom?

The Gavin And Stacey Christmas special was shown on UK television on Christmas Eve and then for me it was the perfect program I watched within the holiday period. I'm expecting The Royle Family for being the pick of the bunch but surprisingly I really enjoyed Gavin And Stacey more. Just how good is this series and may even it become a classic British sitcom?

Well I know think it's really becoming a mainstream sitcom how the general British audience starts to really warm to. Back in the day hidden away on BBC3 but now it's a top BBC1 show. It's among those shows that as soon as you watch a chapter you instantly become hooked. I stumbled upon it late on myself but having heard people rave about it, I watched a chapter and thought it was brilliant.

The characters are quite likeable and instantly recognisable. You've got Gavin and his family that are from Essex, England, in addition to Stacey and her family that are from Barry, South Wales, plus Smithy and Nessa certainly who are their best friends, this is when these two clans bond and interact that any of us get real top quality comedy.

Although the show is titled Gavin and Stacey, it's really the supporting characters of Smithy, Nessa, and my own personal favourite character Bryn, who really steal the show. The storylines may be slow-paced and take time to develop but the comedy scenes plus the dialogue between all the characters are excellent, and are also the main reasons why I love this show a whole lot.

It's not just a gag fest though. There are actually really quite emotional and dramatic scenes sometimes, and it's these believable stories that unwind over several episodes joined with classic comedy moments which will make Gavin And Stacey a truly great sitcom.

This isn't your traditional British sitcom. There isn't any studios or laughter tracks and the majority of the scenes appear to be filmed on location which only increases the realism of this show. Overall it will not yet be a household favourite even so think it's only one matter of time before it gets a mainstream hit, particularly when we have recently heard which a third series happens to be being planned.
